Newborn Photography in Essex

Calm, Baby-Led In-Home Sessions

The first days with your newborn are delicate and fleeting. As a Specialist Newborn Photographer in Essex, I create gentle, baby-led sessions focused on connection, detail and emotion.

Every session unfolds at your baby’s pace — unhurried, calm and respectful.

A safe, calm and nurturing experience

Your baby’s safety and comfort are always my highest priority. With specialist training in newborn photography safety, Paediatric First Aid, and a background in healthcare, I take great care to create a secure environment throughout every session.

Sessions are never rushed. There is always time for feeding, cuddles, settling and breaks. This relaxed pace allows me to capture the tiny details, peaceful expressions and beautiful connections that define the newborn stage.

In-home newborn photography across Essex

I offer a mobile newborn photography service, bringing everything needed directly to your home. Sessions take place in the comfort of your own space, which helps babies settle more easily and allows parents to feel relaxed and supported.

I photograph families across Witham, Maldon, Chelmsford, Colchester, Braintree, Halstead, Brentwood, Wickford and the wider Essex area.
For your convenience, weekend sessions are available at no extra cost.

When is the best time for a newborn session?

Newborn sessions are ideally photographed within the first 7–30 days after birth, when babies are naturally sleepier and more settled. This is the perfect time for those soft, curled poses and peaceful images many parents love.

That said, beautiful sessions are still absolutely possible with older babies. I regularly photograph babies up to three months old, focusing on natural expressions, eye contact and connection as your baby’s personality begins to shine.

Beautiful styling, thoughtfully provided

I bring a curated collection of soft wraps, cosy blankets, delicate props and timeless accessories to each session, carefully chosen to suit the gentle style of my work.

I also offer a small collection of elegant white vintage-style dresses for mums, available for use during family portraits. This is completely optional, but many mothers appreciate having one less thing to organise while still feeling beautifully included in the images.

Capturing more than photographs

From tiny fingers and toes to the quiet moments between you and your baby, my aim is to tell your family’s story honestly and emotively. These images become more than photographs — they become part of your child’s history, displayed in your home and cherished for years to come.

Booking your newborn session

Because I take a limited number of sessions each month to ensure every family receives a calm and personalised experience, I recommend booking your newborn session during pregnancy, once your due date is confirmed.

If you’re expecting and would like to reserve a space in my diary, you’re warmly invited to get in touch to discuss availability.

A thoughtful way to gift a session

If friends or family would like to contribute towards your maternity or newborn photography experience, you can use  Collctiv to create a simple collection pot. It allows loved ones to contribute easily, helping ensure these precious memories can be beautifully captured and preserved.

FAQs

Which areas do you cover for newborn photography?

I offer in-home newborn photography sessions across Essex, including Witham, Halstead, Maldon, Chelmsford, Colchester, Braintree, Brentwood and Wickford as well as the wider Essex area. I travel to you so you can stay relaxed and comfortable at home.

When is the best time to book a newborn photo session?

The best time to photograph your newborn is within the first 7–30 days after birth, when babies are naturally sleepy and curl up beautifully. I recommend booking during early pregnancy to secure availability around your due date.

How long does a newborn photography session last?

Newborn sessions usually last 2–3.5 hours (depending on the package I offer). This allows plenty of time for feeding, settling and cuddles, ensuring the session is calm, baby-led and never rushed.

Do I need to prepare any props or outfits?

No preparation is required at all. I bring a carefully selected collection of soft, neutral wraps, blankets and props to create timeless images. If you have a sentimental item you’d like included, you’re very welcome to do so.

Can parents and siblings be included in the photos?

Yes, absolutely. Parents and siblings are always welcome. These images capture genuine connection and help tell the story of your growing family in a natural, meaningful way.

How do you keep my baby safe during the session?

Your baby’s safety and comfort are always my top priority. I work gently and patiently, using baby-led posing and natural positions, never forcing a pose. Sessions are calm, warm and guided entirely by your baby.

How far in advance should I book my newborn session?

I recommend booking your newborn session during pregnancy, ideally in your second or early third trimester. This ensures space is reserved, particularly for popular areas such as Witham, Chelmsford, Colchester and surrounding Essex towns.

What happens if my baby is unsettled or fussy?

That’s completely normal. I allow plenty of time for feeding, cuddles and soothing. Every session is flexible and adapts to your baby’s needs — there is never any pressure.

Can I request specific poses or setups?

You’re welcome to share any preferences during a phone consultation I offer a week before your booked session. I’ll always take these into account while prioritising your baby’s comfort and natural movements on the day.

What if my baby has flaky skin, blemishes or scratches?

Newborn skin changes are very common. I apply gentle, natural retouching to soften temporary blemishes while keeping your baby looking beautifully real.

Do you provide black and white images as well as colour?

Yes. Your gallery will include a mix of colour and timeless black and white images, carefully selected by you.

How soon will I receive my edited images?

Your professionally edited gallery is typically ready within 4 weeks. You’ll be invited to view your images online and choose your favourites in your own time.

Will we receive high-resolution digital images?

Yes. All purchased digital images are provided in high resolution on a memory stick, suitable for printing and preserving your memories for years to come.

Do you offer professional print products?

Yes. I offer a beautiful range of high-quality Fine Art print products, including albums and wall art, designed to be cherished for generations. I’ll guide you through the options after your gallery is ready.

What if I need to reschedule or cancel my session?

I understand that babies don’t follow schedules. If you need to reschedule due to illness or unexpected circumstances, I’ll always do my best to accommodate where possible.

Can I buy a newborn photography gift voucher?

Yes. Gift vouchers are available and make a thoughtful gift for expectant parents across Essex, including Witham, Maldon, Chelmsford and surrounding areas.

Do you charge extra for twins or triplets?

Twins and triplets are very welcome. I don’t charge extra for multiple newborn babies, but I will require at least one parent to assist me at all times to ensure the safety and wellbeing of the babies.
